Questions on Aspect Ratios & also cockpit sides

Sorry I searched but did not see anything

This is not a problem but something I am curious about

On some full season mods I have great aspect ratio regardless of resolution
Mods like Toms 2014 CSM & also his laptop edition
Or FSone's 2009 great mod. Both excellent in this area

But on some others while I have the resolution set correct
& it looks ok you can definitely tell the aspect ratio is squashed for lack of better
explanation

I cannot figure out what would you adjust for this? Is it all in the camera views?

Another thing I would like to ask about is why do some full mods like FSOne 2009 & even
the stock game draw great full length cockpit sides....while some mods cockpit sides are cut/ not drawn
off if you slide the seat back?
Is this due to a setting & can be fixed or was it because the mod was designed for a lower resolution?

Thanks for any insights & like I said it is not important per se'
Just somethings I wonder about as playing with/tuning these are half the fun at times ;-)
Even 10+ years ago I remember spending 50/50 time wise tinkering vs racing hahah

Thanks for any info given.

my 2 cents

(1) imho you are on the right track with the camera views and view angles ...

(2) There are limitations for projecting 3D object on a flat surface (your PC screen). Front of the cockpit (where the steering wheel is) and end of the cockpit (where the driver's head is) are more or less equal in width on real cars. On your screen you see the front and some tires right and left. To be realistic the cockpit's sides (car chassis and headrest) should be more or less parallel to one another. They would then be "cutoff" on the flat surface - your screen that is. GP4 uses a 3D-object for the cockpit (car_cockpit_00.gp4) which is a really curious one. The sidewalls aren't parallel but open at quite an angle. For all practical purpose the sidewalls must be "more to the right/left" than the width given for the flat surface you select with the cockpit view position.
K-sor's update of the original cockpit is widely used (with some updates) iirc. And this shape works as I tried to explain. Now - if you have mods with cutoff cockpit's sides you may have to change the cockpit shape and to look for the right cockpit's textures.

Thank You very much for your explanation.
I had a hunch the aspect was mainly in camera views & angles

The cockpit info I knew nothing about & what you told me is very interesting & gives me
something to think about & play with

Much appreciated (Y)
Thank You

while some mods cockpit sides are cut/ not drawn off if you slide the seat back?

I've fixed this in the next release of the GP4 Central mods.

Great (Y)

It is not a big deal & I did get a full side file (car_cockpit_00.gp4)

But I could not suss out how to get the interior to look as good as
you had it & went back to the stock one ;-)

Also on the aspect ratio it was not a problem with your mod or Fsone mod
But some others that looked squashed on my screen.
I did find out it was the camera angles after all

I always play slightly zoomed in (~30%) so I never noticed it. Was an easy fix :)
