Question about track loading times

Can someone tell me what is the best someone can hope
for in Track loading times given good PC specs?

Also what is the PC component is most responsible for
track loading times?
Is it the RAM that matter most?

I just built a new desktop for GP4
I like it very much & it does everything quite well
The only niggle is track loading times....
While not slow compared to my old laptop loading times
is still roughly 16 seconds for a newer track like Sakir

Would you folks consider that about as good as it gets?
Or can it be improved?

I am running a SSD drive already & Intel 3.2 Ghz/cpu & GE GT730 2GB DDR3/gfx seems great
I have 4gb RAM
If I increased to 8gb will that improve track loading times a lot? Or
is 16 seconds on a track like Sakir about as good as it can get?

Thanks for any info tips

That's about right I'd say. More RAM won't fix it, and you've already got an SSD.

Partly it is the track, which is a fairly heavy one graphically. And, if I assume you are using the 2014 GP4 Central mod, then the HUD graphic is also slowing down the load times quite a lot. I intend to do something about that in a future release.

Ok Thanks Tom!
Good to know & you saved me $40 :-)

It is not bad @ 16seconds
But sometimes if I am going in & out a lot to save laps etc.
Then I sometimes wish that load bar would just go zip
from left to right ;-)

Yep I know what you mean.

For a quick fix turn off the HUD in the GPxCInfo tab of GPxPatch.

One thing that helps to avoid it when driving is using the in-car setup menu, rather than exiting the game to make setup changes and then reloading.

Thanks Tom

Wow your right about the HUD
If I disable all 3....pitboards,HUD & Defpanel

Track loads in 9 seconds instead of 16
But even if I put defpanel & pitboards back in it still loads in 9 sec

So your right about the HUD taking awhile

I dont really need it so will leave it out.
I also just found I could clean up the defpanel a bit so
I can see what I want there too....Attached below

Yes that in car setup is very nice & I use it always in practice for fast changes & testing
One thing I never understood though is when pressing "L" while on track I see another
setup menu @ bottom left of screen but cannot scroll thru it at all.
(edit:just saw your help file link thanks I see the in car menu is slightly different in usage)

There's a font version of the HUD I think, which uses text instead of lots of images.

You think 16 seconds loading time is long? :-O I have a Nürburgring 2005 downloaded somewhere and it takes much more than a minute to load the race! :-o But this also isn't too long I would say. ;) I would wait 10 minutes loading time as well for this great game! (Y)

:-)
Yes I know it is really not bad but when doing hotlap/race competition
type events there is so much restarting to get a good start.
Or when popping in & out of sim for this or that

But I do appreciate the new load times compared to my wait times before which were all close to a minute
on the laptop.

I've also installed a SSD and my track loading times are between 5-8 seconds. I found out that after starting GP4, when you go to the Display Settings menu and change a setting, for example the cockpit zoom, the tracks load faster.

Thanks I will try that tomorrow when I get home. (Y)
