Need help "reviving" GP4

Hello all;
Used to spend a lot of time with GP4. A few years back, I installed ZAZ tools and the '95 season. After that, the game started hanging up mid race and then on startup going to a black screen on after the main game start menu. never did get '95 to work.

System specs are 4 gig ram, gigabyte GA EP35DS3L mother board, nvidia 8800 GT, P4

Have been trying to get the game to run with no success. un/reinstalled multiple times, patched up etc.

Without the nocd patch, it goes to the black screen after hitting play, starts at the left corner, then goes fullscreen. cursor sits inthe middle, then the hourglass timer, that goes away, then nothign but the black screen and the cursor.

Nocd takes it to the black screen cursor, no timer.

"mildly" proficient with software/hardware ...

Uninstall GP4, run CCleaner and clean redundant registry entries. Re-install, apply the patches from the GP4 download area. Install gpx_patch.
Set GP4.exe to compatibility mode XP2 SP3. Un-check Intellivibe. Check skip start-up and intro. Check enable debug, set to high. Set CPU to 0, test also on 1.
A black screen is a graphics issue. Try alternative drivers.

Thank you, i'll give it a go, have done some of that already except CC cleaner, intellivibe, debugs and cpu settings. Also forgot to mention, the system is XP (86)
