binkw32.dll

Got hold of a used copy of gp4 not realising about safedisc problems.After searching the forums downloaded patch 1.02 followed by the nocd patch without any obvious difficulty.started gp4 and got message "this application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found, reinstalling application may fix this problem"any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.I am using XPpro

Most of the time, the "procedure entry point" errors involving binkw32.dll are due to running "cracked" versions of games. You may see this error when trying to run a game without the original CD or DVD, something commonly done with illegally downloaded games.
It is also possible that you have not patched properly. Check the GP4 downloads area for patches and use the patches listed there. Delete your installation, run CCleaner and remove redundant registry entries, then run CCleaner again. Then re-install and run once from the cd. Then apply the v9.6 patch, then the v1.02 nocd.
Then install gpx-patch, set it to show an error log on a crash.
