Returning to GP4 - Loving it but with a dilemma

Hi all,

This is my first post for a very long time and I am really hoping someone can help

I have recently returned to playing GP4 and must say that the standards of the MODs available is amazing! It was good before but the latest that can be found on GP4Forever for example are awesome.

However, my graphics card (or maybe PC!) doesn't seem to be allowing me to play the game as I want to. I was hoping that someone could point me in the direction of a great graphics card I should be looking at (balancing price and performance) or maybe let me know that I need a new PC! The below is the spec of my PC;

INSPIRON 530 INTEL CORE 2 QUAD-CORE
4GB RAM
Windows 7
ATI Radeon HD 4600

Hopefully someone can help me!

My PC is much much much worse than yours (bought in 2003 and updated in 2005) and I can play the game in 1280x720 @ 30 fps with almost everything maxed. So that can't be a problem. Maybe it'S your f1graphics file that needs tweaking, but I'm no specialist

how about an ati radeon hd 5450? got that one and its a pwning pc. i can play gp4 on 2 screens geheheh

Don't give up keep tweeking stuff until it comes good, my pc was slow as with my first wad i made but i kept tweeking things & presto I can now do 37 frames with all the trimings
minus bump maping. I also have it on static, my pc is dual core pentium 2.6 4gig ram 256 radeon card. cheers!

Mine runs on core 2 duo, 2 gb ddr 2, 1 gb nvidia 210, 15 fps..

. smoother than a baby's bottom ... lol

Thanks very much for your comments - I will start tweaking the graphics settings, is there a guide on how to edit the f1graphics file?

I only tweaked from with in the game it's self for my results.
