Hi,

if naybody can help I have a problem with 2012 mod, & everytime I attempt to run GP4, GP4 crashes.

I use CSM/TSM, which always worked fine for me, with alot of mods. but now somtins gone wrong.

I have a log for GPX Patch, but am not sure if I can attach the file of the log here. although I can copy/paste the text through notepad.

Any ideas?

I suggest you delete wadcache folder of the mod. Make sure the mod is RESTORED first before deleting !!!!! When wadcache is deleted, the game will next time it needs to load make a fresh cars.wad & anim.wad :)

So far 2011 mod works fine.. not a problem at all!

As I stated 2012 mod is the problem!

I downloaded Mortal's clean cars.wad & replaced the existing 2012 mod cars.wad. Of course th size is different big time...Mortal's clean cars.wad is approx 23mb (compared to 2012 mod cars.wad which is 575mb approx, & guess what, GP4 worked even when selecting 2012 mod...BUT of course as using a smaller wad file, the cars are of default GP4.

For sure something is wrong with some wad files as BigBrother suggested.

I might have not understood what the solution is......

More exact help is required please

How hard is it? Delete the ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE WADCACHE. The clean cars.wad is an ORIGINAL to restore a possibly corrupted cars.wad from the gp4 installation directory. It is NOT a modded wad, it restores the original.

I will now do as what you have suggested, & remove all the contents of the WADCACHE folder. However, from the older posts you had advised me to "download a clean cars.wad" which I have also done so.

Now what shall I do with the downloaded ""clean cars.wad""? or where or in which folder do I install/copy it?

Will be right back after I have Deleted the ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE WADCACHE & fingers crossed GP4 2012 mod will not crash anymore & therefore finally work!

& NOTHING FIXED! I guess I followed the suggestions for the fix, but still nothing has been fixed!

I removed all the contents from the WADCACHE folder,mainly 3 files;

anim.wad
cars.wad
wadcache.ini

Then I restarted GP4 with 2012 mod, & AGAIN GP4 crashed,. I checked the WADCACHE folder & again the same 3 files were automatically created somehow, probably after restore???

Any new ideas? or perhaps I am still doing something wrong from my side?

CSM creates the files in its wad cache so it can restore GP4 to its original state before exit. When there is a crash the files are not removed from the cache and GP4 is not restored properly. When that happens CSM could fail as it does not have clean files to work with. Hence the requirement for backup clean wads. Again, delete the ad cache, and this time, replace the following gp4 files; cars.wad and anim.wad. You have a clean cars wad. The other you can get from a clean Gp4 installation if you do not have a backup.
Please confirm that GP4 runs correctly via gpx patch without CSM. Inspect the latest crash log and compare with the log posted here. Is CPU set to 0? Are the properties of all relevant exe's set to XP SP2? Have you patched correctly and installed the correct no cd? Patching and no-cd installation is done after a run once with the install disc in the drive bay. Read the FAQ for installation procedures.
The log shows textures failing to load, corrupt mod? Delete the f1graphics.cfg and re-calibrate on start-up, test. If re-installing, delete folders and run CCleaner to strip the registry.

&........ finally GP4 runs at least.......... but of course RedBullRacing cars in the default green Jaguar team colours & Sauber in default GP4 Sauber team colours & car model.

The only other problem I have is that the Mercedes F1 Team has the front wheels 'in front of the suspension & hubs'.

Conclusion, in all GP4 is finally running at least, but without 2012 RedBullRacing cars & Sauber & also with a "handicapped" Mercedes F1 Team

Any more suggestions?

The solution would be to find those cars as individual downloads and replace them in the cars folder. Just make sure the folders have the same name as the originals, otherwise.....loading fail. :-) I suggest you make a new topic for that question, mark this one as fixed.
