Original GP4 crashes

I just done a full install of GP4 and playing the original game with using just the official patch and the decrypted exe. Everytime i pause the game and do a replay the game will freeze.
Any solutions to this at all?

There is no error log, im not using gpxpatch.

Windows XP, i can run the game fine with no problem, everything on the highest settings etc.

Maybe you could try running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode?
I seem to have less crashes this way & I have XP.
