Installing GP4 problem

Hi all,
I have a problem installing gp4, when I create a new installation eg for 2010 update, it seems to be a bit of a lucky dip for me. Sometimes I get white cars and sometimes not?? It's a mystery to me...

My installation method:

2 X Disc's (game and patch)
Install game anywhere, C drive or desktop, should not matter.
I extract the patch and then copy and paste into the new folder.
When asked move and replace I click yes.
That's all, sometimes white cars and sometimes not, not sure were I go wrong.
: if I just run the patch it creates new folder in the gp4 directory, so instead I extract in a folder and copy and paste the contents into gp4.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Do a re-installation. Start from scratch. Delete the existing install first. Start Menu/Run/regedit. Find Infogrames entries and delete them all. Reboot.
Install GP4 and run once, save settings on exit. The v9.6 patch should be in zip format. Extract it to the Infogrames folder. Add the nocd. Finished.

Again and again the same mistake...
After unzipping the 9.6patch you must NOT copy it's contents to your GP4 installation folder.
You MUST RUN the unzipped SETUP.EXE to make a successfull GP4 patching.
Then add the nocd,
and you have finished - this time correctly.
