yup, me again :P

Is it possible to have two seperate points systems in GP4?

In the GT mod we have GT1 and GT2. Its effectivly two races in one, so if u finished 9th overall in a GT2 car, but 1st in the GT2 class, u get 10 points for the GT2 title

Is it possible for Tweaker to seperate them at all?

I've been working on it.
I think it is possible to switch point system in the middle of between two session (e.g. from practice to qual, etc). It is also possible to use the same way while in the middle of a session, with some additional triggers.

Actually I'm not so familar with GT racing and regulation, so if you can explain more details where and when GT point systems are switched, so I will examine it for possibilites in GP4 engine.

No problem at all

In GT championships there is GT1 and GT2 class cars

GT1 tends to be large works cars like MErcedes and Panoz, and GT2 tends to be road cars modified into race cars, Vipers and Porsche 911s

GT1 is there own leage, and GT2 is there own leage

GT1 cars race for the top poisitons (in our GT mod we have 10)

Points system is 10-6-4-3-2-1

GT2 race there own leage also, (the remianing 12 cars are GT2 in our mod)

If a GT2 car finished 1st of all the GT2 cars hes also given 10 points, 2nd GT2 gets 6, etc

They have the 10-6-4-3-2-1 system as well

Its like two races in one, with two different leageus being run at the same time.

Thing is, in GP4 if a GT2 car finished 7th in GP4, it wud get no points, even if it was first in GT2

We need to give the cars identities to split the grid, so even if ur a GT2 car and u finished 2nd in the GT2 leageu, but 8th overall, u will still get 6 points

This is complicated than I though. So if a GT1 car finished first and a GT2 car finished second, in normal GP4 it would be got 10 and 6 point respectively. But in GT car rules, both cars has got 10 both of them. Am I right?

If so, then I should find another tricks how to "fool" GP4 point system routine and grouped different car class in GP4 to applied different point systems.

correct madman

A GT2 car would still get 10 points

But remember GT1 and GT2 run in different leagues

It would be like F1 and F3000 running at the same time, but the championships being split up still

Its two races in one

another points question.
in 88 (and most ealrly years) they counted the best 11 results.
think you could do it?

(in the 50s it was best 3 of 4 first races and best 2 of last 3 races and stuff like that)

and while we're here. can you make track specific points?
then i could set one track to zero points so theres 16 point scoring races.

@Ellis:
This thing may available in next version.
But I'm still confuse about how we should display the race result? Don't ask me to show them in GP4 front-end menus (results table and overall race positions) because it will need further works.

Ian, glad to see your site was fully operation now.
I'll put your site link in my website under "tools and utilities". I can't put banner there to minimize bandwidth limit. :)

I'm just curious on how to find b-tone website. B-tone, please answer...

Thats b-tones excellent site! :D

Yeah me and markko were fed up of our old basic site! So I got markko onto the job of updating it (As he's a hell of alot better than me at website building! :P) and I think personally he's done a damn good job of it! :) Well Done! :D

Also gotta fill up our Links page! Getting a bit empty with only grandprixgames.org in there :P

Also I was thinking the other day, is there any way that you could code GP4 into playing different sounds? Like when the RPM limiter kicks in, play sample 192 in game_snd.bnk or when the car leaves the end of the pit lane (RPM Limiter Disengaging), play sample 30 in radio_eng.bnk?

I think the menu's are XML files... I could be wrong! Can't remember, and I don't have access to GP4 atm! XML files are usually quite easy to edit. I'll have a look when I get back home.

They are binary. Is XML can be stored as binary?
