I recently followed an excellent tutorial posted on this site to build lower lods (mainly to combat the lag I experience at the start of any race and when the CPU starts doing its pit stops)
It all worked fine so no problems there, but I have since downloaded a couple other cars to replace the ones in atm but unfortunately my trial for Polygon Cruncher has expired and I am unwilling to spend US$129 for a piece of software I'm only going to use to reduce lods once or twice a year.
I came across MeshLab (open source free software! hooray!) and followed the tutorial up to where it starts describing the Polygon Cruncher procedure.
However when I attempt to open the 3ds file I get the following error message"
No Vertex Field Found.
And of course the file does not open...
Should I un-install MeshLab and look for something else thats free? Or is there a way to solve the issue?
