Is there any tool available for converting hi_xxxx.tex files into xxxx.tex files?

why do you need a tool to do that?
just simply copy another hi_xxxx.tex and erase the "hi_"

but there are already xxxx.tex files in the wad along with hi_xxxx.tex it will simply say cannot rename, that file exists already!

i used to have a free tool named "joe" to rename lots of files at one time. google ?

try DMex Menu3.19 here [www.solutions4all.de] it lets you rename as many files as you need

Maybe what Mckey is wanting is a tool to build low size textures from hi-size (and weight) ones.
In that case, i don't know any tool doing this easily.
