Lo2k, how about making all the information you've learned about gp4 track files available somewhere? I.e. offsets, values, meanings etc...

Don't be like microprose and keep it all a big secret :)

P.S What language are you writing the editor in?

Well, every things i discovered and that can help everyone will be offer (help file, command names and all help needing to use new 3DEditor).

Concerning offsets (that i havn't discovered on my own but credits will be given in time) and some other things i discovered on my own, I think they might really interest 0.01 % of users and so i will keep them. But internal sharing with other programmers could (and has) occur of course :)

On other side, i try to afford you editing capabilities for every bytes of GP4 files so you might not miss much things. But i understand that some people are wishing other ways to edit some datas or wish to concentrate their efforts on a special part of a file and in that case, the door is not closed.

About Next 3DEditor version, i havn't post new screens ase most of the work i did the last days are in code itself and can't be clearly seen on a screenshot (appart some new labels/buttons).

Everything runs pretty well, preview now show pitlane and Track, near every datas of the .dat files are now covered and displayed throught adapted windows. As usual, every change in values change the displayed track, but for now, not much datas have effects cause GP4 datas are different from GP3 ones in many areas.

So users will have much beta-testing ahead of them before Track Editing will be fully functionnal. I already made many tests to offer at least some editing 100% functionnal and identified, but i won't be able to test every datas, so it will be your opportunity to become famous :)

Greetings to all :)

That's good!

So it would us a lot of time on CC line editing but we can't do anything like that Monaco bump whereas all cars avoid it.

Sounds like we can't reproduce that in GP4 because that Monaco section (Casino Square?) is a small straight.

Well done Laurent! (and all those who helped him!) You're getting very very close!

I have one question though: Is editing the bin, col and gp4 files linked together? i.e. when you edit the physical layer, those are applied to the col file etc.

Not yet. One step at a time. I can't do everything at the same time else i will have 2 thousands of datas and i won't know which one do what...

looking good.

btw - im a little confused, are two different people both making track editors? i thought i saw someone else post about a track editor too a while back. if thats true then why dont they work together, they are both obviously very talented at doing this.

if im wrong, then er......ooops
