crash to desktop

hi guys: i'm running gp4 with the 2003 order and every time i race , i can do only 5 or 6 laps and have to save them , the game constantly crash to desktop. do you know what can be the problem?
also during qualifications crash to desktop....
i have
pentium 4- 3-06
1024 mb ram
gforce ti 4600
momo wheel
sb live soundcard
direct x 9.0b
