New CSM causing crash?

Hi. I've been running my stock GP4 game with the 2007 tracks (through TSM) and a slightly updated 2001 cars.wad. But I've also been using CSM sometimes to use( or try to use) some of the new mods, like the 2007/6 mod, or the 1995 mod - all using the 2007 tracks.

When I want to use CSM, I have to replace the gp4.exe and the cars.wad that I use when I run the game normally (else CSM doesn't work) and then I change them back again when I've finished. So the .exe and cars.wad that I use in the stock game aren't touched by CSM at all. Since I updated CSM to the newest version yesterday, my game has been crashing to desktop after using a CSM mod when I run it normally with the 2001 cars. It crashes either in the middle or at the end of the track loading process. It happens whether I use the default tracks or the 2007 tracks, and it happens even after I've put a clean gp4.exe and cars.wad in (although not the original wad - I haven't tried that yet - I'm away atm).

So I'm assuming something is getting corrupted somewhere by CSM, but I can't work out what. The log is below.

I put in an original wad when I want to use CSM. But if a .wad worked before hand, and then I renamed it whilst I ran CSM and put in an original wad, and then changed it back to the operative cars.wad afterwards, why should it not work now? CSM hasn't touched it. I'll try the original cars.wad when I get home, but it seems that something else may have gone wrong somewhere. I may be wrong though...

Nope, I'm using one gp4.exe for CSM, and another for when I don't use CSM. So I keep it all separate. Which is what is puzzling. And I've tried putting in a completely fresh decrypted exe with no success.

edit: sorry, did you mean one gp4 directory? Yes, I'm using the same for both. It's admittedly a bit inconvenient, but it worked fine until I updated CSM the other day. And surely the idea of CSM is that it doesn't mess up the original files (so it would be useful to find out what the problem is even if I do have to switch to having 2 separate directories)?

its dangerous to use csm and non csm in one directory but what you do is replace each time the correct files to get csm normal working perfect and thats an original cars.wad and decryped gp4.exe !!

First upgrade gpxpatch to 3.92 version you still are running 3.91

From the error it says there is a mistake in the exe but seems you have put a new one its probabely the last time you run the game it didn't restore fine, had this earlier this week. I had to delete every mod in my csm and reinstall them again, then it worked fine again.

OK thanks. I have replaced the .exe several times though, which is what's confusing. It happened before, but replacing the .exe seemed to work that time. Not this time though... :( I'll try unloading the TSM tracks and then replacing it, and delete the CSM mods - I can't run most of them anyway.

For anyone who drags this up in a search at some point, the problem is fixed. Basically, the .exe was corrupted. CSM or TSM is doing this, I'm not sure what. But the reason I hadn't solved it initially, is because what you need to do is firstly unload any installed tracks in TSM and revert to the original tracks. Also properly restore after using CSM. Then, and only then, put in a fresh .exe. Then load up the tracks etc, and it works! If you put the clean exe in without unloading the tracks, it seems the .exe gets corrupted somehow.
