Hi all friends!!

A week ago I bought a new widescreen monitor of 20" and resolution of 1680 x 1050. My question is: can I preserve the aspect ratio of applications like games?? In my notebook in the ati catalyst control center appears the option to preserve aspect ratio, but now, in my pc there is not the option. What could i do to preserve aspect ratio like in my notebook??

Thanls in advance and a very happy racing from spain!!!

yes, just set the resolution manually in your f1grafics.cfg

have you noticed that when the resoluton is 1680 x 1050 the font is all messed up when you press 9 in game.

Thanks for answer friend.
Yes, I know it but, in other games or applications my problem will go on. I ask for a general solution. In my notebook, like I tell before, this problem is solved but here, in my new monitor, I don't know what to do to solve this... I don't like stretched images!!!!

Hi all friends!

I'm backing to this thread because I'm not satisfied with my new monitor. It's fantastic, but for games is horrible. To see the image stretched is a pain. In gp4, changing the resolution in graphics.cfg the problem is quite solved but, in other games...

I know that this is not a really gp4 question but for me, this is a gp4 and all games question:

"Is it possible to keep aspect ratio in a conventional TFT, like in notebooks?"

I have faith in you, friends. Perhaps someone of you have the answer to my headaches with my new, wonderful, panoramic TFT...

Thanks for answer and a very happy racing from spain!!!

There's no finite solution and you will encounter the same situation with every TFT monitor:
- for old games with fixed resolution (ie diablo II), you can't do anything but have a stretched picture
- for games that do not have your resolution : check for an .ini or .cfg file anywhere (mostly in game's folder but also in my documents sometimes). Many games are not designed for these resolutions but can handle them thanks to a simple text change (like GP4).
- for new games, problem is solved because either they are designed for wide monitors either they have an .ini file (ie Crysis).

Hi friend! Thanks for answer.

I'm trying things... for now I try to play in windowed mode but the game becomes really slowly.

What could be the reason??

Thanks again and a very happy racing from spain!!!

Solution to font problem
Edit the font.ini file in the gpxdata folder
Reduce the quality of the ATLDigital font
See below

FaceName=ATLDigital
FontFile=gfx\fonts\ATL2004.ttf
Height=12
Bold=700
Quality=0.95
