er...it's edited, dude ;-)
those aren't the real images of GP4 :)
and there's no way we can run GP4 with that, unless someone manage to combine GP4's graphic engine with LS.'s great filters! :)

i know these are edited but these are giving the true picture of a real race... fantastic stuff. i just want you guys to think of a way for getting such reaults in the game.... i love this screenshot... the sky is as real as seen from tcam on tv.

sky can be tweak very close to this in GP4.
I already made some tests to change sky colors to more real colors (but with still horrible clouds : /) but you can also have nice sunset skies (orange and/or pink), the bad thing is that all the scene keep original lighting...

that camera angle is enabled by using the beta 2 version of gp4tweaker,

in the t-cam view you just press the "i" key or "m" key ( i think) and it moves the position of the camera angle forwards/backwards

and as the original question about the filtered image, i am toying with the idea of filtering all the graphics too see if it can be done, just need advice on how to change every thing to jpeg/bmp etc and how to extract and replace

i think it will be a mammouth task to try and acheive but its worth a try

you could try a full screen overlay thru cinfo.
about filtering all the graphics. batch convert them, batch filter them, batc convert them back to tex.

but Btone do you think that such kind of sky texture update is possible because gp4 uses the black and white smoke graphics and converts the blck shade according to the weather conditions to a blue shade(sky) .... if yes then thats great news.

i batched processed lots of tgas, with a pencil effect, seen here:

but the batch tga-tex doesnt deal with alpha channels too well. so you'd need to do it in gp4master, and it may take a while with 300+ files.

don't know what it would look like if it was done well?

that sounds interesting.

if someone could use the sky files used in F1C and converted them to gp4 that would be awesome!!

but only LS would be able to tell us how to do this... maybe then its possible...

if some one can explain how its done ( and in english please :)) i'll try and extract some images and filter them (its quite an intensive process though)

get TexEditor for GP¤ v2.0 by James Knopp
you'll also need the Batch Converter which may or may not come with it.
run the texeditor and goto plugins-'batch conversion'
hit the 'tex to tga' tab

unwad a track wad file that you want to use. i used hockenheim.
i copies all the hockenheim... tex files from '\hockenheim2001\maps\hockenheim2001'
to a temp folder.

in the 'tex to tga' tab click 'add files' and browse to this temp folder.
select all the tex files there. (there is 369 hockenheim... i think)
for the output dir make another temp folder and browse to that.
click 'start'
it will take a while, maybe you want to do 50 or 100 at a time?

once its done you'll have 369 tga files in the 2nd temp folder.
open them all in photoshop. (or 50-100 at a time or whatever - could freeze your pc if you try too many)

open the 'actions' floaty window, and click on the 'new action' tab. name it. it is now recording and whatever you do uuntil you hit stop is included.

i selected a filter, tweaked the options, hit ok, saved and closed it.
then stopped the action.

so with the next file if i hit play on the actions palette, it filters, saves, and closes that file.

do that to all 369 of them. (some gave a message that they were too small, so there must be a minumum size for some filters).

nows the tricky bit.
the TexEditor doesnt do alpha channels.
so you'll need to open gp4master's tex workshop.
load an uncorrupted tex that matches the size of your new filtered one (hockenheim2001_page_000.tex).
replace it with the filtered tga (hockenheim2001_page_000.tga).
save it as hockenheim2001_page_000.tex in some folder.

do that to all 369+ files and copy them back to the wad.

it'll take a while, and may not be worthwihile.
ask ricardo lampert what he does, becasue what i said could take days.

Oh, comeon, it won't work, you can only get a blured textures; we need blured vision, an effect similar to that from MotoGP2, and you can't get that only by changing textures...

if you want a good sky, look at F1C - it is photo realistic

what i said isnt about blur or sky, just giving every texture a filter effect.
theoretically, LS will apply his bright blurry filter to every tex in a track wad, and the game will always look like one of his screenshots.
i doubt it will look as good as that, and doubt its worth the effort.
you'd also need to do the cars.

where are the skies stored, Lo2k?

some of the filters i use are blurring the perspective, which i wont be able to do, but by using my filter combinations on the actual track graphics and cars might make the colours of the game look less cartoony and more realistic

i'm gonna give it a try but it might take a few weeks til its complete

i might try monza first, coz monaco might take a while longer with all the trackside stuff

I am guessing but the shot above.... is that from F1C ?

If it is thats amazing !

Do the clouds change shape and position throughout the race ?

or are they static .... ?
