steering help

can someone please help because i installed 2007 season on gp4 but the steering help(F8) is always off and i can't turn it on. i go to the main menu and its on but in the race it is off and when i press the f8 button to turn it on it doesnt go on. is there anyway to change this!!! i am new to gp4 and starting in rookie mode!
