Grand Prix 4 keeps CTD or locking up.

Hi all, this is my first post on this forum. I've recently got back into GP4, especially as I've seen the amount of mods available, but I have a problem. The game keeps crashing to desktop, or locking up. This didn't happen with my old specs, I wonder if the game has an issue with my GPU or dual core CPU. Can anyone help?

GPU: ATI X1950XT 256Mb DDR3
RAM: Kingston 1.Gb 240pin DDR2 PC667Mhz PC5300

Make sure in Patch down the bottom right corner, that the option CPU is set to all. Otherwise scan for viruses and defrag your HDD and registry with "Registry Defrag".

no, makes sure that gpxpatch is set to 0 or 1, not all.

I have a similar spec, and everything works fine with cpu at 0:

Intel E4400
Nvidia 8600GT
2gb ram

reg/hdd defrag does nothing for gp4, don't bother

Thanks, I'm not using any mods or patches other than the official Microprose one, not until I can get the game running properly at least! Can anyone else help?
Is there a log file in the GP4 folder that I can send so you can help? I am not currently using GPx, do I need that to generate a log file?

If you have a Core Duo PC, then GPxPatch is essential for you running the game perfectly.

I've now installed GPx, but the game is still CTD, usually when quitting out of a race/qualification, or returning to the pits. Any ideas why this is happening?

Make sure that GPx is on debug mode "Medium".

Install gp4.exe 1.02 no cd, gpxpatch 3.92 and put verbosity to medium with CPU "0" else it will crash for sure.
