Ive just seen this graphics card on ebuyer going for a reasonably cheap price

Do you think this is worth purchasing to upgrade my system?

I have a limited budget and my current graphics card is a Geforce 2 Mx400 64Mb with Tv-Out. My CPU is a P4 1.7GHz so that doesnt need updating at least not yet and i feel the at this price that is a damn good graphics card.

Thanks

It's much better than your GF2. Card is cheap but it isn't very fast. If you buy Radeon 9000/9100/9200 you will get better performance. If you want buy NVIDIA's card then buy GF4Ti4200, but it is more expensive.

I would have to say no. What is your budget?

If you have £150ish pounds have a look at the Radeon 9500/9600 cards, or the Geforce FX 5600 Ultra, but not the 5600. For around £100 then the 5200 Ultra, or Radeon 9200 are in your price range.

If you don't play any new games then you don't need directx 9 hardware support, so the aforementioned GeForce 4 Ti 4200 or the one I mentioned, the Radeon 9200, will be suitable, and affordable.

is the 128mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro the best card out, i know Saphire do a 256mb Radeon 9800 Pro but it only runs at 128mb.

Anyone know, or if theres a better one. Ive got between 4 and 5 hundered to spend on a card.

my pc specs are

Intel P4 2.6ghz
512mb DDR PC2700 Ram
160gb HDD (2x 80)
currently a GeForce 4 128 Ti4800se, which cant run GP4 over 15fps

Thanks guys

There must be something seriuosly wrong with ur system if it cant run GP4 over 15fps. My system is: 1.7Ghz P4, 256 SD RAM (p133), 60Gb Hard drive and Geforce 2 Mx400 64Mb and i can get about 27 Fps in a full grid race with everything on high (except shadows and reflections)

The new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder will be the biggest most feature rich card when it is out, which is soon. But it's a case of preference between the 9800pro and GeForce FX 5900Ultra at the moment. Both perform similarly.
