Very bad performance

Hi there,

First, I want to introduce myself. My name is Daniël Kleijn, I'm from the Netherlands. I have been playing GP4 since it came out and in that time I have painted and I have started to make a mod with a friend. We never finished that mod though.

Anyway, I installed GP4 again so I could drive some laps. But the performance is awfull. My Processor Ocupancy starts with 100% before the start, but it goes up to 2000 (!) when the lights turn off. Changing the resolution doesn't help a thing, so I'm sure it's my CPU giving some problems. I've got a Intel Pentium D, 2x 2.80 GHZ (Two CPU's), 2 GB ddr2 RAM and a Ati Radeon x600 (256 MB).

What I have already tried: Putting it on CPU 0,1 or all in Gpx-Patch and in Windows. Changing the priority didn't solve the problem either. I hope you can help me fixing that bad performance.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel (DaVinCi)

im not sure, but it cant all be to do with the CPU - im using a Pentium 4 2.0ghz with 64mb graphics card with only 256mb Ram at moment.

Have you updated drivers?

Settings are fine and changing them doesn't change a thing.

It might be something simple as you not running the automatic graphics configuration..... go into the graphics settings area and find out what frames per second gp4 is set to? :)

fiddle aroung with the f1graphics.cfg make sure you set the first line to cfg file controls graphics... i found increasing antialiasing on my system and some other things, like chosing mode 3 (anistropic) filtering for graphics in the cfg file increased my graphics performance. also i found i had po going as high as 2000 with dynamic reflections on, turned them off (game looks better off anyway) and po dropped to about 130 at 1400x900 at start grid. for some reason on my 8600gt, running game at a lower res, with low res textures, and no antaliasing, i got a worse frame rate then high res with 16 times antialiasing, So I would recommend trying highest settings first since sounds like you have a decent pc which should handle fairly high settings.
