Hi people,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the rest in this forum (for those who just said... "sod off, who cares?", I understand... I just could not help myself)

Although I've only registered now, I've been reading the posts in the GP4 forum for a while. I have to say I've found many a post useful and enlightening in my quest for the ultimate (unashamedly subjective, of course) 2003 mod!

I just wonder where the individuals considered like modding demi-gods like Viper and co. find the time to do such excellent stuff!

Ah yes, I happen to be Maltese, living in the UK, for those caring to ask!

I've got hold of a Toshiba laptop equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Centrino processor with 256Mb of RAM and an ATi Mobility Radeon 9000 gfx chip.
It was much to my surprise, and pleasure, that it runs GP4 (with all the magnificent updated cars) like a treat! I only had to turn mirrors and advanced lighting off and bumpmapping to enjoy an average of 30PO in Monaco peaking maybe at 100 at the new chicane (which seems to be the hotspot in PO in monaco)


Oh one last thing, does this forum offer a search facility? (Kidding)

Another thing LS... that williams steering wheel mod is really something... i tried it out myself... so so cool... but I could not work my way around the head motion tweak.... Although it's my fault as at the moment I don't have much time and did not read thoroughly the long tutorial posted by madman...

Pity the cars don't have individual steering wheels.

yea... adding arms would be nice...

if only Symergy read this forum!! cause in reality if they added a few crucial things (like arms), then I think the community is glad to modify the remaining aspects of the game.

I read somewhere that the omission of the arms was their own choice so as not to hinder the information on the LCD... but it's not like that drivers look at the LCD all the time and i think it's only in hairpins where the arms cross is the LCD (for those who use it) is obscured... indeed the omission is baffling!

Hopefully they will get around to produce GP5! and address the issues put forward in this forum...

LS, i was thinking of a way to do arms....it MIGHT be possible but im not sure, and if it was i duno how good it would look.

I might have a go later, but i dont promise anything special

did'nt the developers say that wanted to use the polygons on other parts of the game and not waste them on arms.


cant see how much difference those would make to the overall game

sounds like a lame excuse to me

and hitchhikers right about the crossover of the arms obscuring the LCD readout

never got in the way of GPL did it? even though they did'nt have the LCD display

right i know how im gona do it, but will take a good while tweaking to make it look anything decent :S

Also, you cant make stationay points....which means we cant make the arm sit still for the shoulders, so gota adjust it so it looks real :S

will they be like F1 Challenge or GPL?

you'll be a saviour to many cockpit drivers if you pull this off

Dont think it can be made that good...at least not by me, but i suppose anything is possible now. Madman has managed to make a full helmet cam, so i can have a go at this and if doesnt work, it doesnt work. If it doesn, im sure someone can sue the idea to better my attempt
