try using wad updater instead, simply put all the new files in a folder , run wad updater , select that folder select cars.wad and go.

use the tex workshop in master to load the tex file from your wad.

load the new_steering_wheel_displays.TEX, hit REPLACE and browse to the new_steering_wheel_displays.TGA from the mclaren wheel.
downsample and save.
do the same for these:
steering_wheel_centre.TGA
steering_wheel_ends.TGA
stwheel.TGA

and rewad the wad.
stwheel.TGA is in ../cars/ while the rest are in ../cars/cockpits.

use easywad to unwad and rewad the wad.

if you're using EasyWad and the files are replaced, then right click on the folder where the wad was extracted, and hit 'Compress directory to .wad'
then play (or copy the wad back to the right place first)

i think i hav a problem with this wad thing y cnt i unwad the other staff.... how do u delete this easywad i want to download it again
Re: mclaren steering wheel ...help

from the start:

1.copy your cars.wad from gp4 folder to a temp folder
2.right click and choose 'extract wad to dir'
3.a cars folder will appear and in that is 3 folder cars, fonts, maps
4.open gp4masters tex workshop (the blue button)
5.click 'Load tex file' and browse to temp/cars/cars/cockpits/new_steering_wheel_displays.tex
6.click 'replace selected' and browse to ../McLaren_wheel/new_steering_wheel_displays1.TGA
7. click 'downsample textures' and ok
8.click 'save tex file' and ok

this has replaces 1 out of 4 files. do steps 5 to 8 again for:
temp/cars/cars/stwheel.tex
temp/cars/cars/cockpits/steering_wheel_centre.tex
temp/cars/cars/cockpits/steering_wheel_ends.tex

now go into temp/ folder and delete the cars.wad. now right click on the cars folder and choose 'compress directory to .wad'
a cars.wad file will appear. this is your new wad with mclaren wheel.
copy it back to you gp4 folder.
(you should backup first by renaming the original wad in the gp4 folder to cars_old.wad. then if something goes wrong you can still use this one)

Cheers b-tone :) with your help i've successfully installed chunters williams no lcd version of the willaims steering wheel:)

next question is where do i install bergerfans external t-cam wheel, directory wise?

and is there a way of getting rid of the writing that i can see behind chunters no lcd version ? you can see the word " running" near the BMW badge on the centre of the wheel.

/cars/stwheel.tex

^ thats the external wheel and arms
the same folder as all the carshapes and textures.

for the no-lcd, i've just rleased another version (0.3) which gets rid of everything but the required stuff during pitstops.
it might show up near the mirror, but this depends on the cockpit shape and camera angles.
maybe i'll do some new versions to suit a few different cockpits/angles/etc in the future.

anyway get it in the WIP section on my site:

did you copy all of the .pos and .uni files into your fonts folder in your main gp4 folder ? that SHOULD remove them
