2010 Rims & Tyres by SkaningeN----------------------------------
Here is a 2010 tyreset that has it's roots the fantastic years of 2005 to 2009.
With
Enzojz and
Lee's great talent for modding GP4 back then, I've just modernized their
work a bit to bring you an updated 2010 tyreset.
Finally, F1 got rid of those ugly rimcovers, so we get to see the rims in all their glory. All teams have the "right" set of rims and you
have several rimbolt colors to choose from. I can't say they are 100% accurate, I've only gone for the approach to make each team has "realistic" rims.
What I've done it really not that much. It's been a copy-paste work for the most part, with a little painting and minor changes the only work being done besides naming the files and make it
compliant with the modern GP4 we know today. This work is entirely
Enzojz and
Lee, don't forget that if you decide to use these files. This means a different approach if you want to mix and match.
Instead of changing the threads, you change the rimtexture for each team.
This set only uses one shape as Bridgestone was sole tyre supplier in 2010.
This set also brings 2 options for dry slicks:
Hard (Regular)
Soft (Green stripe on the tyrewall)
"Experimental" shape:
I noticed that in 2010, alot of teams had very big rimbolts, bigger than the original shape have. So I "experimented" a little
and borrowed a rimbolt from
Soulbringer and
Vesuvius 2011 3D Tyreset. That rimbolt comes with five different colors.
I don't know how I feel about them. They look okay on some rims, not so good on others. I've included this "experiment" in this
set so you can try out for yourself. Maybe even make it better if you want to. Know that you have to put the boltRBR.tex file
in your main cars.wad folder for it to work properly.
Despite it's age, these 2D rims still looks amazing to me. You might not agree, but then again as
Lee used to say...
If you don't like them, don't use them!
----------------------------------
Known issues:
The rain tyres does not work correcly with the Soft tyrewall (green stripe). This because you have to choose before you start the game which
tyrewall you want to use. So despite the cars using rain tyre threads, the green stripe on the tyrewall will still be there. You avoid this
issue entierly by just using the hard tyrethreads. And they look better anyway, I always found the green stripe quite ugly.

Big thanks to:
Enzojz: Making these tyreshapes and original textures that stood the test of time!
Lee: Improved on the tyretextures to make them look even better!
Soulbringer & Vesuvius: For their work on the 2011 tyreset were I borrowed a part from!
Without their basework, I would not be able to share this with you. Remember that!
Also, of course, to the rest of the GP4 community on your effort to keep this game alive!
