Hey guys,

does anyone know how the slipstream were from 2001 up to 2006.

In 2005 and 06 it was very strong, or? and in 2001 it was not so strong, or i'm wrong?

I want to play the seasons from 2001, 2002...2006, but i don't really know how strong the slipstream was.

Please help me, thanks.

the slipstream isnt the problem, it works very well in gp4. its the turbulant air created by the newer cars, which makes it hard to follow another car close through turns, and then the cars arent close enough for a slipstream, but this cant be replicated in gp4 unfortunantly.

To be honest, I just use between 15-25 for the first two values and 3 for the last one. I've not changed this over the years!

@ If I disabled the slipstream tweaker function it is no problem to follow cars in turns and the result is, that i can overtake, but if it is ebabled i can't drive close up to the cars in turns...so i would say it can be simulate in gp4...or?

@fongu thanks, i will try it

Yes, the tweak does allow for the 'turbulant air' effect. You quite clearly lose grip when following another car closely and get bad understeer. I think it's great and really makes the game feel more realistic. I don't know why Adam thinks it can't be 'replicated'.

As for the original question, I don't think there's much difference between 2001 and 2006. Overtaking was very difficult then too and the drivers complained of the 'dirty air' problem just as much as they do now. I set mine at 25,25,3 and find that it works like a charm.

i use keyboard by the way... and i test using barcelona's last corner and silverstone's copse... where if i loose so much time that i can't pick up a slipstream by the end of the barcelona straight, i lessen it.

I'm using the keyboard too....its the same at me, and in interlagos i drove a ferrari and i can't overtook a bar because i lost so much time in the last corner although i was 0.9 sec faster in fresh air :-)

i like that ;-)

50 is the standard values but I think it too high - impossible to stay behind a car in fast corners like at Barcelona or Silverstone.
I have set the values to 25 or 30. This is quite nice. It is possible to follow the cars but it is still hard to overtake the fastest drivers.

it's nice when it's 50 coz you can see the effects on the cc cars too.. but its too much for keyboard users

It should be in your GP4 directory.

if it's 0 then slipstream effect works for all cars....if it's 1 (enabled) then it only works for players car .
