I may be getting Grand Prix 4 - Advice

Hello there,

It's been such a long time since I last posted on this forum. I'm now on holiday for six weeks and I'm intending to get Grand Prix 4 at some point. I saw it in a 'Game' shop for 19.99 pounds and it looks very good. People have been saying to me that once you start playing it, you do not want to stop. But what I want to ask in this thread about the game is how to work it once I have it. I have skimmed through the downloads and they look good. Once I buy the game (once I have it installed, I'll indicate that to you) and tested it and that etc. what are the first things I should download and what other downloads are good? How would I work it etc.?

first thing: what is your computer spec??

it is not actually hard to get this game running really sweet,

all you should do is download patch 9.6 and install.

then use major toms graphic file etc.

then turn your computer sound hardware to minimal, it makes the engine sound a bit crud but your playability will sky and you will get good graphics and good framerates and low po.

do all this, and you wont stop playing it!

also, if u havent got it already, buy a forcefeedback wheel and pedals like the ferrari thrustmaster one i have got!

My computer spec is this:

Windows XP Professional
AMD Athlon(tm) Processor
1.04 GHz
240 MB of RAM

Will Grand Prix 4 work fine with that?

yes it will work fine.

i have xp pro, p3 1000mhz, and 640 RAM

so maybe you could get some more memory.

but dont worry, gp4 will run fine on that.

all you need to do is fine tune like i have had to do.

use the 'search' button at the top to find old posts about graphics etc.

or if you are VERY brave, just post a new thread about what you want

then we all say searchbuttonman! :p

I've bought the game now!!!

It looks great but unfortunately the game runs slowly when in action!

I've tried to put it at high and low graphics and set the frames but it runs so slowly! Please help!!! What is going on?

right,

firstly have you installed and run the patch 9.6??

if not, then install it.

then go to the 'search' button at the top of this page and type in 'graphics tweak' and other such words like improve graphics, major tom, etc,.

follow what peopl say and you will be sorted

You'll only get about 20-25FPS, with details on medium You'll need to play around with somethings, but definately use the search button. There's loads of stuff around.

what graphics card do you have?

I only have 1000mhz AMD Processor and 128mb ram and it runs fine!

I have duel operating systems on mine, Windows 98 & XP.

I find the game to run much better under windows 98 because in XP, its more jumpy.

I had problems with that 9.6 patch because none of the patches would run with it like GPX patch.

In windows XP go

Control panel - sounds and audio devices

the volume tab at the top, then advanced button at the bottom

hen clikc the performance tab on the new box that just opened, then use the hardware acceleration tab
