Well, i just read on gpx.it that GP4Italia's staff have finally found how to convert sound stored in .bnk file in .wav format and it happens at the same time i've did the same, thanks to Shutt1e and Madman giving me great help with the file formats (i was knowing nothing at sound files, only graphical files :) ).

So i tried it quickly and built a working wav file from a bnk in less than 5 minutes (after some mindstorming anyhow :) ) and i will be able to build a Sound Editor right now.

Hope i won't worry GP4 Italia guys doing my own editor just at the same time...it's a pure hasard if I am on the way to create a sound editor now, as without shuttle question yesterday and Madman's help, i would maybe have never do any sound editor at all...

Normally, i would be able to give you a working version tomorrow or saturday at worst, sorry for the track editor waiters, just a small gap from our goal, but I'm still stucked on my chair anyhow ;)

Does this mean you will be able to change engine noises and stuff? if it is this is great news

It edits every ingame sounds...even lateral and longitudinal skids in separate files ! :o
But it also count pit radio communications, stands noises, engines, gear shifting and so on, as Madman told me, there are at most 256 sounds saved in a .bnk file (but some files are near empty too).

this is not a problem at all. it's not a competition, we need that editor badly, is not important who build it first.
there is not only one wad extractor tool so there can be two or more sounds editor.

bye

Yap, no competition. Everyone's invited.

In reality, doesn't matter who's right but most important is who's left.
