" Gildoorf, Ruboy and Tony b-tone for a truck from Surfers Paradise "

no mention of me it seems. Surfers Paradise was the first to convert the trd tracks & made a guide for it at the same time.....:(

Hi Samuele

i pop in from time to time to see what or if anything of interest has developed in the GP4 world

Still surprised to see that people haven't made more video guides to help new members learn the tricks.

car from scratch & finally into GP4 etc.....same for tracks.......

would pay off in the end with more content

i agree with you, jimbob. As a french guy it's still so difficult for me to understand the meaning to use gp4builder that's written in english (by a french it seems). i made my track above all with my feeling and click and click, and test and test... In one word, where can i find your guide ? Maybe it will bring me other explanations even if it's english. For instance, why the shadows i created are in gp4builder but not in the game or how can i find the way to change a part of tarmac. Thx !

contact LO2k pm him here....he pops in here from time to time....ask him did he have a french version of the builder guide

if the shadows aren't in game i'd guess they were given the wrong properties in builder or the texture file for it is set wrong

haven't worked on anything in Gp4 for years....last experiment i worked on was an oval track .....

I would love to create tracks. Simple track dat would make me happy for a start. I watched the tutorial made by Paulo, she is very nice, but I still have many doubts and unfortunately I do not advance. More tutorials would be most welcome.

@ Jimbob (or someone else) : I prefer to import personal objects in gp4builder than those of the authors of this communauty, so here's my question : i read in your "read me" of Surfers paradise that you converted objects in 3ds. Please, how are you doing and which tool do you use ? Or do you know a site with 3ds files compatibles with gp4builder cause the ones i found on the web are crashing cause too heavy i think. Thank you !

Here are the sites with 3ds files (and other formats) i visited without success :

[open3dmodel.com]

[free3d.com]

and many more...

@livejackass : maybe you'll find a begin of explanations here : [www.youtube.com]

What have I done wrong?
When I try to load the track in game it gives me error "wrong file type".

First time ever this has happened to me.

Unfortunately, I don't know what happens. Dat and wad files are clean, i never had this problem since i drive this track. If i have a solution, i'll let you know of course. Sincerely sorry for this inconvenient.

could it be, because there are the gridleft.jip and the gridline.jip in the wad file? and in the samples folders crowddata and reverbdata of the wad there are montreal2001 files instead of melborne2001

You get that error because the track is over 8km long. In your GPxPatch you have to select "20km" option at the GPxTrack tab ;)

Yes. That worked!

Most simple solution was the last one that came in to mind.......

Great track! Racing with extreme slipstream will be fun on that one.

Thanks everybody :)
