Meteoro said in the Sebring post that GP4 is almost 20yo. Despite the beautiful work you have been doing on the game, and it is still so good and also updated, it would be very stimulating to realease a Grand Prix 5 with open rights and a lot of improvements. But could it be done? Have any of you thought or tried some like that already? :)

There's a transcript of an interview with Geoff Crammond in my files.

A GP5 with GP4 gameplay would be included, with 20 years old the GP4 already leaves other simulators in the shoes, imagine it updated in a new version ... it would simply be a show

Geoff and me are sharing a common interest which has nothing to do with the Grand Prix series or F1 in general. We like to keep this private.

Oh! You little naughty! :-o;)

This is a discussion that the community started in 2005 with Madman...
The truth is that Grand Prix 4' s rights still belong to Atari SA (ex Infogrames) and distributed by Microprose. This is not an abandonware yet. So, unless Geoff Crammond decides to share the source code of the game with the community (if he got the rights to do it), I don't think it will be possible to update the game. As we know and confirmed by Geoff Crammond himself, GP4 game and AI was coded in C++ language which has evolved a lot with various updates until 2017. I don't know if it would be compatible with actual standards.

Probabilities:
1- Grand Prix 4 becomes an abandonware and the source code of the game is shared with the community ( low and abandonware doesn't mean freeware)
2- Sir Geoff Crammond is working on a new race simulation game (low)
3- Codemasters lose the F1 rights and Microprose is building an official F1 simulation game (low because contract renewed until 2025 with additional two-year option with CM)
4- Microprose is building a new racing sim game (average but possible)

Microprose is working on several strategic/ military and simulations games at the moment.
It is possible to contact them to submit suggestions:

My opinion is that our best chance would be to create a public petition as a request, signed by hundreds of gamers. It would have more strenght than sending a message one by one...
