track order-help

maybe same old question, but help please
i thought to change track order from 2001 to 2004.i thought to change by renaming wads.

example: i changed suzuka2001 wad to interlagos2001. where brazil is last race in 2004.i extracted brazil wad and renamed all files from interlagos2001 to suzuka2001 in the wad,where there is interlagos name ,i kept it to suzuka.

and finally i changed interlagos wad to suzuka wad and also in circuits folder i changed dat file too.

the game loaded without any crash to brazil track when i selected suzuka in menu and it runs successfully without any crashes after a long time run also.

but here the big problem is except cars,crowd and track road all are white layout. cars run well i mean not in air or whatever different direction or collisions. the grandstands,grass ,main textures are pure white.

what am i doing wrong. please help before i didn't care about track order but recently i feel like to play championship in respective year order.can anyone give right solution to solve this or procedure to change track order sucessfully.

You can change the order very easily with GPxTrack without having to rename anything.

But the menus/number of laps/loading screens etc are an entirely different matter...

u mean by changing dat's order in gpxtrack. it's crashing very time i try that. tell me correct way to change them.

You need to append magic data to the .dat's so they load the appropriate wads and have correct laps numbers etc. I can email .dat's to you with this already done if you like.

@sunil, have you renamed the .tex files? If yes, this may be why everything turned white. The textures' names are stored inside the .gp4 file, so the .gp4 still refers to the same textures even if you rename it. And if you rename the textures, the .gp4 won't find the ones it's looking for. The way Mr Pibb suggested is much easier and prevents weird things like that.
