hey folks i just had a brainwave on a little idea - on how annoying all those gp4 pit sounds are so i thought id enhance them by using new ones i have in a gpx patch soundset. anyone interested in testing it for me post a reply here and if its liked i could release it this evening.

otherwise if no interest i wont bother setting it up as i speak.

UPDATE 1 all sound .wav files are in the snd folder, and the .ini file is correct. game still plays default sounds. hmm anyone know wats wrong?!

UPDATE 2 hmm still not right, im replacing the ITV set as a template and still his works but not my wave files.

UPDATE 3 bit rates - thats the issue!! anyone know how to change them please?

UPDATE 4 sorted, postponed til 5:45!

UPDATE 5 gaaaaayyy does anyone know how to change a sound .wav file from a 128kbps to a 705kbps?!

ahhh does the fact that the sounds im using have a bit rate of 128kbps mean that the ITV set at 705kbs have to match it?!

Are you sure your 128 kbits file isn't an MP3 ?

WAV files usually have bitrates between ~700 kbits (mono) and ~1500 kbits (stereo).

Maybe your problem comes from the fact that you've got MP3 files instead of WAV.

128 kbits sounds extremely low for a WAV (uncompressed) file.

What tool do you use to calculate your bitrate anyway ?

Use a free audio program like Audacity to save and change bit rates. Or you can use Windows Sound recorder to save as a wav with a different bit rate. They must all have the same bit rate and number of channels. I think they all have to be mono too.
