to caelen:

this is something that i found (as i promised before) about your last previous topic of moving main cockpit steering-wheel position. i found coordinates location for both dash and steering-wheel position (displayed in main primary cockpit view) as stored in gp4.exe file as follows (values location are file offset relative):

0x0006FDE4: x-axis of dash panel shape. original value: 0xBBC49BA6 (-0.0060)
0x0006FDF4: y-axis of dash panel shape. original value: 0x3D4CCCCD ( 0.0500)
0x0006FDFE: z-axis of dash panel shape. original value: 0xBBA3D70A (-0.0050)

0x0006FE08: x-axis of steerwheel shape. original value: 0xBBC49BA6 (-0.0060)
0x0006FE12: y-axis of steerwheel shape. original value: 0x3CF5C28F ( 0.0300)
0x0006FE1C: z-axis of steerwheel shape. original value: 0xBEE66666 (-0.4500)

please take precaution when modifying these values since the value location is located in gp4 code section. any mistakes when changes at location or values may crash your gp4 game.

for additional information, dash panel is panel shape used to store panel indicators not located in steering-wheel such as dificulty level lights, car damage status, suggested gear, etc. the dash panel shape is defined as cockpit_dash.gp4 in wad file. in addition, steering-wheel is a shape defined in wad file as cockpit_wheel.gp4.

please note, coordinates values for both dash and steering-wheel are global for all cars. i have plan to separate these locations per-car basis into future gp4tweaker version (or shouldn't i?). feel free to modify or create your own tool for this purpose. don't hesitate to ask me if you have got problem to edit these values.

to ellis:
now you have one additional clue for your GTA cars projects, e.g. moving the steering-wheel to the left and dash panel to the right (or vice versa). :)

sorry i forgot to tell that file offset location is based from gp4.exe patch 9.6 (v1.02). you may find the location for gp4.exe v1.00 by searching to identical axis values.

i used youre info and moved the wheel, thanks very much. typically with gp4 this has caused another problem, with a much lower wheel and cockpit ther are now bits of suspension visible on some cars poking through the cockpit , which is weird because they are not part of the cockpit shape, it really only effects the jaguar and jordan .
I wondered if maybe lowering the relevent bits and pieces through hacks of the .exe would overcome this problem. ie instead of creating a shape which is lower use the same shape but change co-ords in .exe file as done with wheel.
I guess what im hinting at is that next time someone produces a patcher for gp4 which can alter the positions of things, ie helmets wheels, coult they also include the option to move the relevent components of the cockpit.
i really dont like asking others to do things but ive absolutely no idea how to create such a utility.

anyway thanks madman for the info on the wheel.

why don't we all chip in what we can, forget gp4, and bild our own game from scratch?

safety car, unspecified starters (ie-56 on the grid!!), real pitboards with a man hanging out, commentary, better radio sounds, better cc cars into the first corner, etc etc

(o, one thing i'd like someone to do is build in an 'agression to other drivers' factor - so jacques won't let jenson past, same with ralf and monty, ms running people off, rookies ignoring blue flags, etc etc)

to caelen:
that's why i've got an idea to splitting cockpit view's steering-wheel coords into car dependant, like external shape currently does in helmet/arms/steer position editor in gp4tweaker.

to b-tone:
are you serious? :)

to dUmAsS:
hope stunt car racer 2 can be patched into F1 game mod. :)
