Great Problem with Easywad

Hi,

I have a great problem with my easywad data.

I want to update my cars.wad on my new PC (Windows 10, Intel Core I7 etc.), but when I want to open my cars.wad, it is not possible. I don`t understand that, because the easywad data is activ but it doesn`t run.

What can I do? I love GP4, but I want to use new cars... on Win7 the easywad runs normal. Have anyone an idea why easywad is not running?

Update:
Easywad is my standard programm to open wad files. But when I click to the cars.wad, there is no further action... it doesn`t open the folder... What can I do?

(Sorry for bad englisch...) ^^

Try to install the CSM tools by Zaz . Inside Programs files / ZaZ Gp4 tools you'll find a tool called Easywad . Click on it and choose as your default program , then right click over your cars.wad and it should open

OK, I do this, but now the programm calls "Illegal Switch: C\Games\cars1.wad

Maybe it is important: My hard drive "C" is an SSD. Anyone informs me, that GP4 run better, if I don`t install it in "Programm Files x86" or "Programm files"... he means, I should put the Game in a "Games" folder in hard drive "C"... maybe this is the mistake?

@Daniel1989:
Nice to hear, that at least someone else is having the same issue like I have (B)! Hopefully we can solve it.

As far as we know (general knowledge), users of windows 10 who have installed this system in an ssd (or have some only for caching) have suffered some crashes. Notably those that have the less recent versions (in the creators update edition, it seems everything has been solved).

It seems that the problem has been solved (slowness and random crashes) in this last edition. Ok?

Hm, I don`t know what I have to do now. Can you explain what I have to do? (or where can I find the last edition?)

I have installed Zaz Tools as " rracunis" write yesterday... then the cars.wad calls me "Illegal Switch: C\Games\cars1.wad"

The computer knows, that easywad is the right programm to open the cars.wad, but when I click on it, it doesn`t create a new folder.

I have try, to open it on "device D" (this isn`t ssd)... but there is the same problem...

What you have to do is install your GP4 and other tools for editing outside of c: \ program files (x86)
I believe that this will solve your problem definitively.

Thank you!

Actually it is install on C and the folder "games" and not in programm files... but ok, i will install it on "D" tomorrow.

After this, I inform you if that was the solution.

I have install GP4 and all other tools on "D", also ZAZTools and the "old" easywad... but it is the same problem.
The system knows, that easywad is the right programm to open it (it shows, that "compress directory to wad" with the standart folders is possible), but after click on cars.wad ... no further action... The system doesn`t create the folder.
The problem is, opening the folder... that doesn`t run!

Still this thread here:

On my new PC (Windows 10) I have 2 harddrives:
C: SSD --> Win-installation
D: HDD --> GP4 and ZAZ-Tools

But Easywad still does not work, saying opening a wad-file with Easywad would be an "illegal switch".

Any solutions or alternatives?

Ok, I have install GP4 now on HDD "D", after that I install Zaz Tools and make Easywad to the standart for opening .wad files. At the moment, it works.

Thanks for your report, Daniel1989, I think I will once again completely reinstall Grand Prix 4 and see if that works. Thanks to Windows 10 it is already the 4th reinstallation needed to get the tools working.

Maybe important for you. The "old" easywad doesn`t work... only with the easywad from the Zaz Tools it ist possible... That`s not my favorit solution... but ok...
but in my opinion, the other (old) version is quite simply...

This is to confirm that I had already said earlier.
