hi all,

i recently posted if DirectX 9.0 would be okei with Gp4, i agreed and installed it.
well... turns out that instead of my gp4 running on 35 fps smoothly, its struggling on -30 fps and it is doing my occupacy a lot of stress

correct me if i am wrong

anyway, i read that some people have converted back from 9.0 to 8.0,
is this possible and how????

As far as i am aware you cannot go backwards with DX with out reinstalling back to original settings.
What version of DX9 are you using I.e. a b c and what OS 98 Me XP?

you can uninstall any DirectX driver I've done it before with succes. You just need to do it in Safe Mode. To prevent you GFX from crashing while uninstalling. But do some googeling and you'll find a detailed description of how its done.

With latest DX 9.C you should not have a decrease in performance try down loading latest graphic driver from NVidia & see if that helps.

I installed DirectX 9.0c and forceware 66.00 and never get such blazing smooth playing in GP4 before (I'm not sure anyhow, what component gave me such change).
But I'm using WinXP, not W2000 wich have never been recommended for gaming :/

Officially, I think, you can't/shouldn't try to uninstall a version of DirectX unless you use XP and made a System Restore point before installing DX9. Unofficially there are tools/utilities available on the Internet that can do this for you.

Try DirectX Eradicator and/or DirectX 9 Uninstaller from guru3d.com, page link is [downloads.guru3d.com]

I haven't used either program yet so I have no idea if they work, cause problems or blow your PC up!

I used DX uninstaller with a previous version of SX and under Win98 a few years back. I worked fine back then.

@ Lo2k

Excuse my ignorance - what is forceware 66.00? Nvdia driver?

i installed 9.0c, and 61.77 drivers i think.
things seem to be worse, but it may just be my 1950's grfx card - next time, think!

Yep, Vader, "forceware" is the new (some month old at least) name for "detonator" wich was the name of n'vidia drivers as "catalyst" is the name for ATi ones now.

I only find Version: 61.77 (Release Date: July 27, 2004) on the official nvidia site. Where do I get these 66.00 drivers from?
