I've just updated my system Bios. I'm running P4, 98se on a Intel 845 chipset (that hasn't been touched since purchase 2 years ago). If you haven't updated this and feel confident enough to try, I'd recommend it totally.
GP4 just moved into the "can't think of much to do now to make it better" league!
If you're running similar, hit the Intel site and download the correct patch. It's self extraxting so easy as pie. I'm sure VIA chipsets are easy to upgrade too.
I've updated my graphics drivers many times and know the difference this can make but I was always a bit wary of going near the Bios. It's easy!
If you want to know what Intel chipset you're running there's a wee tool called a "chiputility" that tells you on their site.
Jackie.

If you've any questions, I'd be glad to help.

....................I quite like this now.

Yep,

Faffed around with my Bios loads of times, dead easy .

You need to sometimes to support newer processors or enabling overclocking features or just to fix bugs.

Make sure you read up on a Bios flashing guide before you do anything though

Unless Intel made your board, don't go looking there for BIOS updates. Like mine, it's an ASUS and I go to theuir website for BIOS updates.
