If the authors lock the shapes, this is to avoid savage and unwanted conversions against authors wishes. If some people know how to unlock shapes, this is not a reason to publish a tutorial about this and it is against the GP4 community rules and a lack of repect toward the authors. Better is to ask permission to the authors if they want to share their work. Just my opinion...

Is it really a kind of lack of respect toward an author, if I like to modify a work just for myself, so that it fulfills my personal wishes, Excalibur? I don't think so. So, as a result, locking .gp4-files could also be interpreted as a lack of respect towards the whole community. This is my opinion ;-).

Please, brudu92, send the tutorial via personal message to me (Y). Thanks!

And you are surely not alone to know how.... To be honest, I see nothing glorious in that.

Next to the 'glory'-thing, I did not know, that it is even possible to unlock the files at all. So, I'm quite glad, brudu92 mentioned it here ;-).

Oh really, I had the feeling you were very proud to know it and to come here, asking a question you already knew the reply.
Usually, This is not your habit to ask anything .... if you know what I mean....

You don't know.
Should I post the links of all the cars you edited and released on another site against all the rules applicable here...
despite you were in the list of people who accepted them : [www.grandprixgames.org]

So It looks a bit like a provocation to come here and claim that you know how to unlock shape...
Look around you. A lot of people know how to do. If it was so difficult, all our works would may be not released for other games since years...without be informed

you see... it's been many years that unlock a .gp4 file is common knowledge ;-)

i do not know why so much controversy.

once when moderator of a grand prix 4 community on orkut (now defunct), a user (paranóiko) wanted to upgrade the Interlagos track (2007), but no one knew how to unlock.
I think I was the only one who knew how (and had the tools). I asked the owner (Ricardo Lampert) if could be done and was allowed. Hence there is now, Interlagos 2007 by paranóiko.

today any unknown, know how to do. do not know why so much fuss about the matter :-)

Do you mean that spending hours and hours of our free time, working hard to share new stuff with the community is a lack of respect?
We are making cars for GP4. If you want to use them into your game, you don't need unlocked shapes, right?
Authors are free to release work the way they want, whenever they want. We are not paid for that and we are not obliged to. This is not for glory, just because we have got the passion of F1 and GP4 and that we want to share it with others. Lack of respect toward the community, you said?
I think that everybody knows the rules of GP4 community. Is it so hard to ask permission of an author to modify his work for another project and to accept sometimes that he doesn't want to for several reasons? Isn't it a lack of respect? What a strange point of view.
Some people made offerts to buy my works but I said no because this is not into the spirit of the community and that I am not a professional who want to earn money with it. So, i don't think that sharing our work for free with the community is a lack of respect. And this is my right to lock the shapes if I want to. I don't know what is the problem with GP4 players.
But, as a modder, you should understand that seeing people releasing works from others in public on their own name is a bit disappointing and that it did not encourage us to continue... For your private use, do what you want...
This is my opinion ;-)
