FPS strange things

just updated my video card from gef3ti200 to radeon 9700 pro. F12002 fps jumped from c.35-40 to 70-80. Gp4 manual calibration recommend 36 before and after. Even if I set 50, I get 36. I put on dynamic environmental mapping and upped the resolution from 1280x1024 to 1600x1200 and the recommendation is still 36 fps. Hmmmm
Next step for me is installation of Win xp- God help me. If you don't hear from me in the next few weeks, you will know why.

What's your po in the game at 36 fps and 50 fps?

Forget about PO, it doesn't really show a thing, apart from GC and his crew being unable to make good benchmarks/frame counters.

Well I'm still here and in win XP. At least I got the ISDN working and all else except graphics. Can't play any games and dxdiag freezes the system. I have changed drivers back and forth. S--t!
I try to switch off the screensaver, but as soon as I get the ss window, bam! Frozen again. I made a clean install after formatising my c: partition. Desktop is pretty, but my nerves are going. I have spent nearly 3 days on this.

Games are on the D: partition. Itried reinstalling Rally trophy to test if it would work...no cahnce.

Sorry I know this is not GP4 and there are other forums, but can anyone help? I'm desperate

Also the 9700 requires that it be connected to its own power connector,not shared with the hard drive or cd etc.

Yeh, the manual didn't mention the power connection, but I sussed it.
Vader, you are not kidding. My old gef3 ti 200 gave me mark 2001 scoire of about 8.300, with th e radeon 9700 on win 98 I got 13.344! It's a great card, but Win XP is my problem. I'll visit that forum Vader. Back soon.

Ever since my first encounters with GP3 I have remembered you both as being the most consistent and helpful forum members. It was a relief and a pleasure to find you both here when I got over a brief attack of F1 2001-2002. So Morbid, yes you are right; the Radeon 9700 pro is a wicked card and only you and Morbid (sorry, I meant Vader)can know what "wicked" means. Damn it, you both are so ... well dark.
