hidden lcd on steering wheel

the number positions are set with co-ords in the fonts/xxx.pos. so i set them to be off the display screen.
and the text is in the .uni files in the font/ folder. i set them to blank.

but then ure missing valuble information :|

This is great! Now we can use some of the Chunter's wheels in full exstent!
BTW, most of the real steering wheels don't have the amount of info we have in gp4..
They usually have fuel, speed, gear and laps data (tops), while the rest of info is being given thru pit to car radio and pitboards..

i've just tried it and i ended up with all the words in the same place on the lcd ...where have i got to **** them off to ?

i'll upload the fix in a wee bit.

That's gr8 because now we can have wheels without the LCD but get the menu's in the pit to show up somewhere.

Nice that you have found out this. I found it in early time of gp4 but didnt post it because i thought its to easy and everybody else knows this also :/ .

There're many other files in gp4 subdirectorys (for braking, damage fogs etc). Have you tested them? There're also files which includes information for wet rear lights...

Nearly all files can be opened with notepad or other text editors.

Some of them don't even have speed info. Why should they? It's not importatnt for the driver to know how fast he is driving. Rpm is way more important.

this fix deletes all steering wheel messages so you cant tell if youv'e a loose wheel or blown engine.

i'm working on a 'panel' for the message.

maybe someone could replace the 'show_text' with a 'play_audio_file'

BTW, I think it would be really cool to stop in the middle of the race and have no @#$%& clue what type of problem you're experiencing!
It's not like Mark Webber has a complete info on LCD saying his suspension failed or something like that..it adds to the overall atmosphere...
