Thx guys, I'll go with this template as a base.
One thing I have noticed is the huge face count of the current plus stands and muppets, about 20,000 in total.
If I use animated 2d planes instead of 3d models for the engineers I can more than half that figure. The only problem being the engineer skin would be tricky to update, it would have to be done in max and rendered out as a sequence.
Current telemetry stand face count is around 700 faces each, thats 7,700 faces in total, 2d engineers would be 154 faces for all the teams.
So that would be 7,854 faces for the entire stands and muppets (why are they called muppets?) lets call it 8,000
, a grand saving of 12,000 faces for detail in other parts of track, 3d kerbs/piano's fences etc.
I think current face limit is around 120,000 faces for tracks, is there a fixed face limit ?
