i've been thinking what would've happened had the wheel banging ended up with Vettel's car crossing the pitlane and running over a few mechanics?? would Mclaren been in trouble, yet again?
for sure it was an irresponsible driving from both of them Vettel and Hamilton, as Vettel was moving to the inside, but Hamilton should have not been there in the first place

a lot of Mclaren fans are happy to have Hamilton there, but for sure the image of that clean and trouble-free team seems to be far away after these last couple of years, i remeber couple of years back when much of the arguments between Ferrari and Mclaren ended up pointing at how fair and clean Mclaren was compared, even thou Ferrari was never penalised for infrigment of the rules

nothing had happend this year but the lying, the spying, the penalties, people are already complaining that Lewis has run away with a couple of things this year, has the arrival of Lewis changed the image that one once had of the team?

now i'm going full fanboy mode here but in comparision, Jenson's been getting great results whilst still being one of the most fair and gentleman drivers out there

I thought Alonso's start was awesome!

Pure guesswork, but he guess 100%! Jump start? not imo.

How can you have an opinion?

He jumped the start. It's a fact. Even if he wasn't moving before the lights it could have still been before the reaction time, making it impossible anywau.

This is old news. Alot of drivers been doing this method since 90's

although he did quite move slower than alonso did! Still.... Why so serious?

I think one thing that needs to be changed fairly urgently in the pit-lane is the painted Allianz logos down the middle, in particular. We saw it in Australia with the Mercedes cars exiting pitlane, and now we've seen Hamilton almost spin into some mechanics in China as a result of it - you can see onboard footage of it on the F1.com race review. They probably won't get rid of the logos altogether, but they could at least use a different paint that gives some more grip, as they are using for the white boundary lines on many tracks now.

Or Hamilton could've been a little more careful. He was the only one to go sideways.

Those logos were introduced ages ago and never caused any problem even under torrential rain...

The only problem here is releasing the driver when there is another driver passing by in the pitlane.. It happened in the past and in China there could have been serious consequences. I thought there was a rule against that.

There is a guideline for it - which is if there is moving car on the pitlane road that is 50m behind (I think, someone correct me) your pitbox, you are not allowed to release the car in the box.

For Red Bull and McLaren, that was impossible to do. If you look at a replay of the incident (from Vettel's camera), you'd see that the release time for each driver was about a split-second apart - and that Vettel was not actually on the pitlane road (he was pretty much still in his box).

From what I can see, Hamilton had wheelspin coming out of his box - had that not occured, I doubt we'd be having this discussion at all ;)

A very good point, but i'm pretty sure he'd lit up the rears before they touched the painted bit. It seems a little silly that they would paint such a large stripe in the pit lane without choosing a nice high-friction finish first. IIRC the massive Santander stripe in the Silverstone pit was quite abrasive when i walked on it in 2005.
