It's the 95 Ligier, can tell because it's much pointier than the 96 chassis.

Cheers mate, I had no idea

Wasn't the 95 Ligier just the 95 Benetton ?

Remember hearing about that somewhere :)

Pretty much so yeah, of course they denied it at the time, but the resemblance is striking.

Flavio Britore either owned or had large interests in Ligier at the the time as well. He pulled some strings to take the Renault engine supply from Ligier to Benetton. Which meant Ligier then had Mugen Hondas, that really pissed off Minardi because they were set for the Mugen deal, but it was called off because of Flav, Benetton and Ligier.

Indeed! I can't even remember him testing for McLaren! Those 2 schemes work so well... his helmet in the current car would be better still!

Awesome pics guys, keep them coming :)

As a slight aside, there was a mod for either F1C or F1 2002 that had numerous winter testing liveries. Can't remember what it was called or who it was by, but it was rather nice.

It was in 2002 when he joined the DTM with Mercedes. I remember he tested at Paul Ricard at least once but can't remember if there were further outings.

As far as special liveries go; BAR had various takes on the Lucky Strike livery with Davidson's 3rd car in 2004, as well as the beautiful one-off 555 livery for the 3rd car in China. There were the seperate liveried cars they had for their launch in 1999 which were also rather beautiful but there don't seem to be many pictures of them around.

Blue Ferraris are sexier than a bag of chips. FACT!

How about the '96 Dome Mugen Honda tester...Dome never did quite make it to the grid in 1997.

The green Shannon Forti in 1996

The special Ferrari in 2001 at Monza

Giovanna Amati in the original liveried 1992 Brabham. Think it got that awful pink livery around the 5th race or so.

Minardi paying their respects to the late John "John Boy" Walton, team manager, at Silverstone in 2004.

A lovely car (I think) but painfully slow. Lola makes it's only attempt in the 1997 season at Melbourne. At least they saved Damon Hill's blushes a bit at that race.
