@IWE, it is hard to tell who it is, it tok me nearly an hour of research and I'm still not sure is it Hakkinen or Coulthad
but it is definately from 1999 season.

that ferrari is f399 so it is from 1999 season.

The difference form f300 model used in 1998 is minor, but Marlboro logo on f300 is slightly behind the mirror
while on f399 is beneath the mirror


Mclaren drivers during 1999 were Hakkinen and Coulthard, the only colour visible on the driver's helmet is white
so it is hard to tell as both of them had white on that part of the helmet.

Considering helmets Hakkinen is in sligth advantage for his helmet has uninerrupted white stripe while the bottom of Coulthard's helm is half blue half white.


Although lower part of the ear and the jaw in particular would suggest it is Coulthard



The driver's embossed artery on his hand tells me it is Coulthard, but I do not have any proof because I could not find any pictures of Coulthards or Hakkinens hands.
It would just fit better in the whole Coulthard's anatomy.

Renault only came in 2002... In 2001 it was Benetton-Renault. So IWE is right

but in 2001, Benetton was owned by Renault, they just decided to keep the Benetton name until their proper entrance back into F1 in 2002.

Renault bought Benetton at the end of the 2000 season, so Red 5 is right, technically it was the Renault team in '01, but they just left the Benetton name for that season.

But they did keep the name and the Benetton colours!!! Only in 2002 they did changed everything to Renault (the team name and the yellow colours)! So Red 5 is not 100% right! I don't think people called the team Renault! They called them Benetton

well if Red 5 is not 100% right, then IWE is a lot lot less right that him!

Red 5 is at least 90% right because Renault were in F1 in 2001 (they owned and financed the Benetton team), so IWE must be only about 5% right that Renault were not in F1 (because we didn't call them Renault, we still called them Benetton).

But what IWE meant to say that Renault didn't exist as the team name! They existed but they were on the name Benetton! I think that this is what he is trying to say

Renualt was in 2001 not as a complete team, Renault was only motors. In 2002 switched to a complete team.

they were as a complete team, they owned Benetton! they only changed the F1 team's name in 2002, otherwise they were Renault from 2001.

@red 5: Iw seen pics from different angle where Mika was watching into Ferraris' cockpit. I cannot be sure is this one same case but I was guessing so.


And what comes to Renault. Yea I meant as team name. Team owner, boss, main sponsors, most of workers,.. most of everything execpt name was from Renault. On later part of 2001 season Renault was actually already using some of their 2002 stuff in races.

As you can clearly see, the small, visable bit of the helmet has blue and white. As Hakkinens helmet didn't have blue at the bottom, it has to be Coulthard.
