Was fastest all weekendWell, he wasn't really was he? Not for the first half of the race when it really mattered. If he had been fastest, he would have been in a more comanding position even after Williams messed up his strategy. Nor would Barrichello have pulled off that fantastic pass in the opening laps then pulled away. It was Schumacher who had the hot pace mid-race, enabling him to pull out a gap big enough pit and come out just behind JPM - but then it was Schumacher's turn to have the inconsistent tyres, and who knows whether JPM would have caught and passed him?
its funny when you look at how JPM has pefromed better than ralf ( and jpm's only in second year in F1)In Melbourne Ralf was looking a lot stronger than Montoya. In Sepang, Montoya qualified better, but even after the first corner incident, Ralf's race pace was better, and he won. In Brazil, again, an incident, but Ralf's pace was again superior to Montoya's during the race. At San Marino, Ralf blew Montoya away. At Spain, Ralf was stronger than Montoya until Ralf's car failed. In Austria, the Williams duo were pretty much on par with each other throughout the weekend, although Ralf was faster at the start of the race and Montoya passed him in the pits. At Monaco, apart from that stunningly fast lap, in the race, Montoya didn't do anything more spectacular than Ralf. And of course, in Austria, JPM blew away Ralf. It might have been a different story had Ralf not been stuck behind Raikkonen, but again, who knows?
I agree, Montoya has been the stronger of the two in qualifying, but not by much, and stats show it. Ralf is a lot more consistant, but with two poles in the last two races, perhaps that may change. It's up to Montoya to prove it.
