I think he answered the critices pretty well?

Was fastest all weekend, Williams put him on an odd stradegy and still he could have won!

Pretty much faultless weekend in car which isnt as good as the Ferrari and ith tyres which were....odd in the race

Yep. Pissed all over Ralf all weekend, and could definitely have challenged MS for the win. Twas not to be, though. No doubt the JPM-bashers will say that he's pushing the engine too hard since it's happened twice in a row, like Ralf said at Hockenheim last year ;-)

Let me put one pointclear before anyone comes along to tell us JPM did blow up he engine:

NIKI LAUDA clearly said YOU CANNOT BLOW UP THE ENGINE DUE TO YOUR DRIVING STYLE ANYMORE.

They have automatic shifting, rev limiters, all sorts of electronic enigine management. A few years ago you could indeed ruin your engine by puishing too hard. That is now absolutely impossible. Put the blame on Dr. Mario "I fell asleep in the solarium" Theissen.

agreed

the engines nowadays are controlled by the boffins behind the pit, ralf tried to use this excuse at last years race at hockenheim.

he said that jpm had pushed his engine too hard and he'd played the waiting game, and he won from it.

patrick dismissed ralfs comments as bullshit, that speaks volumes really.

when michelin sort out their tyres and they perfrom consistently then we will hopefully see the williams on par with the fantastic ferrari, the marenello team have done well to overhaul the bmw power plant in terms of HP.

its funny when you look at how JPM has pefromed better than ralf ( and jpm's only in second year in F1) and to go back to the beginning of the season, MS said that he saw only ralf has his main title challenger.

what does this say about JPM now then?

Was fastest all weekend

Well, he wasn't really was he? Not for the first half of the race when it really mattered. If he had been fastest, he would have been in a more comanding position even after Williams messed up his strategy. Nor would Barrichello have pulled off that fantastic pass in the opening laps then pulled away. It was Schumacher who had the hot pace mid-race, enabling him to pull out a gap big enough pit and come out just behind JPM - but then it was Schumacher's turn to have the inconsistent tyres, and who knows whether JPM would have caught and passed him?

its funny when you look at how JPM has pefromed better than ralf ( and jpm's only in second year in F1)

In Melbourne Ralf was looking a lot stronger than Montoya. In Sepang, Montoya qualified better, but even after the first corner incident, Ralf's race pace was better, and he won. In Brazil, again, an incident, but Ralf's pace was again superior to Montoya's during the race. At San Marino, Ralf blew Montoya away. At Spain, Ralf was stronger than Montoya until Ralf's car failed. In Austria, the Williams duo were pretty much on par with each other throughout the weekend, although Ralf was faster at the start of the race and Montoya passed him in the pits. At Monaco, apart from that stunningly fast lap, in the race, Montoya didn't do anything more spectacular than Ralf. And of course, in Austria, JPM blew away Ralf. It might have been a different story had Ralf not been stuck behind Raikkonen, but again, who knows?

I agree, Montoya has been the stronger of the two in qualifying, but not by much, and stats show it. Ralf is a lot more consistant, but with two poles in the last two races, perhaps that may change. It's up to Montoya to prove it.

I believe RS messed it up himself in Spain by going off and losing his front wing.

In Monaco RS could match the race pace by Montoya, even though it was not that fast.

As for Sepang and Brazil: JPM had to start all the way in last place, which means you 'll only be able to match the leaders pace, when no one is in front, and that's not obvious having to constantly overtake :) MS had to do so in Sepang too. Are you saying he couldn't match the pace either? He couldn't even match JPMs pace then.

Australia: we'll never know. Just RS was a bit quicker in a weird qualifying session.

At Austria he did get an advantage by pitting later than RS, but still drove fast enough to eventually pass him. To me, they seemed equal.

So it's only been in San Marino that RS has been better than JPM.

JPM was better in Spain, Austria(little), Monaco and Canada.
