As I said, Horner fooled the world once again. Turns out they didnt use KERS from Saturday!!
I assume the issue would have been cooling related going from what Horner suggested about Newey's package. So what about Malaysia? Possibly the hottest ambient temperatures of the year, will RedBull use KERS?
The things to consider are how much benefit will there be at Malaysia for laptime performance and startline performance? Its a longer run to turn 1 and a long run to turn 2. Not only that but Malaysia has two heavy braking zones, and two long straights. KERS should be pretty advantageous IMO.
Looking at the race start in Oz, Hamiltons poor start effected Button's start which was OK...Petrov had a good start, as did Alonso.
IMO, if a KERS starting car is alongside the likely RBR pole then there will be a much bigger risk at Malaysia than here.
I think its a very tough call for RedBull and I think if the grid is exactly the same as Oz, then IMO at Malaysia, both RBR's would lose out to both Mclarens, and certainly one would lose out to either Petrov or Alonso all by turn 2.
In 2009 both Button and Vettel were pretty vocal about the "magic button" and we saw how effective it was with Lewis against non equiped KERS cars at the start. IMO RBR need to sort the issue quick if only to defend against Lewis!!
What are your guys thoughts on this?
"Trulli was slowing down like he wanted to have a picnic" LOL
