Just read the news on formula 1.com.

"Organisers of next year’s inaugural Indian Grand Prix are hoping that input from Formula One teams into the design of the new circuit will help make it one of the most challenging and exciting on the F1 calendar."

The circuit will be designed, of course, by Hermann Tilke

Here are some layout pictures:

It reminds me another circuit, but I can't figure out wich one ...

Reminds me of Aida.

Kyalami definitely. Even the gradient on the hairpin section is the same. Only difference is they'll be running the opposite way round it.

Okay, so once again Tilke takes his elements from his other tracks and makes a new one.

This guy has the easiest job in the world ;)!

It looks okay but nothing spectacular as we've come to expect.

Yawn. The elevated corners remind me of A1 Ring, without inspiration.

I think F1 should look at our GP4 section for custom tracks. WAY better than what Tilke's ever created.

These used to annoy me. Now they just bore me - and that's way, way worse.

I mean come on... if you're going to have elevation, have it in the corners, not on the straights. I realise he's has to bow to local demands, but it's elementary stuff. @#$%& sake.

Edit: Speaking of elementary, if you're going to have a slow corner leading into a long straight with another slow corner, trying to manufacture an overtaking place, then don't make the braking zone uphill...

are the braking points all sligltly uphill? I hope between t3 and t4 they planned a good water draining system ;)
the last 2 turns remind me a little the Boot and the Heel at watkins glen ;)

The more I look at this thing, the more I'm plunged into something very like despair, because of its characterlessness and sheer mediocrity. If this was a food, it'd just be rice which had been boiled too long.

@J i m, I think this track will make Aida look like Spa. :P

i might be the only one but i like it... the elevetions have been exagerated probably to give an idea.. but that carrousel looks a lot of fun and it could be exciting to watch.... track looks demanding and a lot better than China's

Does tilke have some kind of kink-quota he has to meet with his tracks? I mean, surely having 15-20 corners that look absolutely the same has to get tiresome...

I agree.

All I see in this track is a "Kleines @#$%&".
