Petronas becomes Mercedes GP Title Sponsor

Surprising to see this happen, I thought they would definitely stay with Sauber, or maybe even Lotus, but not Mercedes.
Unfortunately, the concept image of the car looks awful
Hopefully they can do something better than that for the final livery!
Also, the official name of the team now is "Mercedes GP PETRONAS Formula One Team" Could they make it much longer?

they could just shorten it to Mercedes Petronas F1.

Good news, but that show-car is fugly. I dont expect it to look like that but anything like it is a mistake!!!!

In the same way the respected Peter Sauber, and Mario Thiessen did??? ie, selling a team to a company/name that doesnt even exist?
Even Ross Brawn fell for it. Dont lay the blame soley on Fry for what was a massive cockup. The guy recieves unjustified flak from a bunch of nobodys who'd fall to pieces given the same situation

After his talkings throughout Summer I hoped he'd have lined up some big names, and I guess theres still more to come at the launch! Would be very interested to learn how the Mercedes buyout was integrated into the plans of securing a financial future for the team. I suspect whilst the Mercedes deal went through he was halfway through talks with several people, then once Merc was confirmed I guess pen to paper for such sponsors would have been an easy decision!

To me it looks like they got the worst bits of the 1990 Leyton House livery(or any late 80s/early 90s March) and the worst bits of the 1990 AGS livery and spliced them together. Major ewwww. :P

These concept liveries always look different from the end product. Maybe if they made the Petronas green metallic or something, and swirled the two colours together a bit, so the green was spread over the car in the style of the black and red on the 2006 Macca, for example - that could be pretty nice.
As a big Sauber fan I'm pretty disappointed to see them lose a sponsor/major partner of 13 years, but yeah, that's how F1 goes sometimes.
