Nick Fry pretty much confirmed the Virgin deal with Manor...

So they have money, Virgin were only willing to splash out a rumoured £20million.. Not enough for Brawn as a winning team this year.

I wonder how much Manor will be getting as a new entrant?

Not heard any news from the team, but no news is often good news. Its better than Windsor blabbering on any chance he gets. The car was also rumoured (cant find the article) to be the first F1 car to be designed soley by CFD. Not quite so risky with the Acura, but an F1 car... could be interesting. I imagine a windtunnel will be used, but reducing the number of sources for information can both be bad and good.

Most excited about their driver lineup, hopefully we will some news soon!

I wouldn't be surprised if Virgin actually take the full naming rights of this team. I'm sure 'Virgin F1 Team' sounds better than 'Virgin Manor' or even just 'Manor' to Branson. For a new team with low expectations for success, it might not cost too much to get this deal.

Its also great that Brawn has their budget secured for the next few years. Without it, they would have no hope of continuing to be at the top of the field.

with Manor signing up with Virgin and USF1 with youtube, thats 2 of the new entrants with some pretty decent backing.

question now is what are Campos planning to do?

Not much by the sounds of the interview with Adrian Campos here.

"We are now in the phase to connect to sponsors with our business plan. But remember we only got the go ahead from the FIA on July 22, and given the fact that everybody is on vacation and that there have been some irritations in Formula One, it was not serious to go and speak with potential sponsors if you don’t know the whole package. Our main drive for the sponsor approach will start at the beginning of September."

beginning of September.

...

I can only assume that means they have the money already in place to design/build and manufacture a chassis ready for testing in Decemeber?

Oh snaps! They going to design the next generation Indy car at the same time? ;)

(That would be schweet to have the 500 as part of the WDC!)

Campos sound like they're screwed before they start. :s

Also, the optimist in me still expects somebody to buy out BMW Sauber before the end of the year, so that's another new team which needs to find backing.

Campos update...

A very small team. Cheif designer is former Jag designer stayed on at RedBull but not sure what happened after RedBull. He wrote a very nice article in F1racing a while back about the R3 or 4 (cant remember). The car had colour coded paint with the colours representing different pressures. A nice article.

Would make for an interesting conversation between Dietrich Mateschitz and Richard Branson.. DM: "Richard, what? you only own ONE formula 1 team? Pfft. you poor thing."

And then Richard would surely feel obliged to buy several more teams to get ahead ;)

We could have Virgin F1, Virgin Galactic F1, Virgin Active F1, Virgin Atlantic F1, Virgin Mobile F1, Virgin Trains F1 etc. ;) ;)

He could be "in talks" with them as in, "PLEASE give me a drive!! Oh please, I promise I'll drive quickly!!"

It doesn't necessarily mean Manor are interested.

Dallara are design whores. They have loads of projects on the go. Indy Car, Indy Lights, Grand Am Daytona Prototype, Audi R15, GP2, World Series by Renault, and a whole host of LMPs.
