Hmm. Im glad they have been punished now, but I do feel that they should have faced an immediate penalty. Both Lewis and the team. However I am glad they havent, I still have to wonder whether they deserve more than this or not. Its sorta like, "boys will be boys, now dont do it again."

edit - Also today we should hear more about the proposed budget cap!

Thing is, with McLaren you kinda wonder when they will next breach the regulations and this three-race ban comes into effect...

They got off lightly, but to be honest I'm glad, Macca have pushed themselves into a position to where they will be challenging for the champ, and a three-race ban would have dented that severely.

Now don't do it again! ;)

It's a verdict for the fans rather than a verdict for the crime.

Yes I agree, its a verdict to keep merc in F1 as well and sponcers.

The crime has already been punished, with a disqualification from the Australian GP. When you look at the penalty in total (DQ from 1 race, and 3 races suspended ban) it doesn't look at all lenient.

I don't think it's that strict at all, Rubidius, I'm with Covfan here (to sum it up).

Thats abit unclear, bit if Ron is what they mean then if I were him id be having words with the FIA ;-)! Would that be discrimination, if they mean Ron?

nowhere near strict enough in my honest opinion. I was rooting for them to be thrown out of the constructors again. The crime this time is worse than Spygate i feel, as it was more prominent to the fans.

and if not worse than that, definitely worse than BAR running an illegal fuel tank in 2005 which gave them a two-race ban (plus DSQ from the offending race)

Is that it, they lied, they got off lightly

They don't want Mercedes unhappy and Lewis Hamilton, the defending champion, away from the races. There's another lie stated in that letter, the whole change in culture.

People in Sport lie all the time.

Isn't a player diving in Football also lieing to try and manipulate the result?

If they get caught they dont get suspended, they get a caution.

This is Formula 1, not football.

Manipulation isn't fraud, which is what this essentially is, when you factor in the bonuses for the following years that points bring.

Mclaren admitted it, diving players dont.
Also diving players cant be proved to be diving unless the video is shown, but the referee doesnt change his mind after making a decision, even after seeing a video showing.

Also like said, this is F1, not football or anything else. They were taking to a hearing unlike in football for diving

Drivers also lie some of the time as well, they have in the past.

I also think they got off very lightly, seeing that Ron was not even running the F1 team in Australia.

I am pleased they can still race, but this is yet another penalty by the FIA I dont agree with.
