Mercedes already bought McLaren???

In addition to speculation that Mercedes-Benz is preparing to buy the remaining sixty per cent of McLaren, the German press reported on Wednesday that the deal was signed at a Hockenheim meeting in July.

Auto Motor Und Sport magazine wrote that team principal - and 30 per cent shareholder - Ron Dennis met with Mercedes officials Thomas Weber and Bodo Uebber prior to the German GP.

Syria-born Saudi Arabian entrepreneur Mansour Ojjeh owns the remaining thirty per cent of Dennis' outfit, after the German carmaker bought forty per cent of McLaren in 1999.

Auto Motor Und Sport estimated Mercedes' buyout at (US) $400 million.

This means that Mercedes will return as a full works team for the first time since 1955.

ron is gonna be left to run it as well, was always gonna happen really gonna be such a shame to loose the mclaren name the 2nd most succesful team.

This will mean only 2 teams remain from when i started watching f1 in 1989, ferrari and williams that to me is really sad.

and they have offered new 2-year contract for Kimi and he would be paid 64 million dollars if he stays but most likely he will go to Ferrari .

64mill could go to the car to make it quick enough not to need a good driver. ='/

mercedes are dumb if they pay him that much.

64mil is nothing to them it wont affect the car really and whats the point having a really good car if u have a crap driver? or a 2nd rate one mind u they have alonso but they know it will take time for him to settle in

This hasn't had any confirmation from either McLaren or Mercedes, and there also hasn't been any mention of rebranding as Mercedes only.

and they dont get Kimi anyway,he will go to Ferrari.

I cant believe that the engine manufacturers are taking control of F1... its sad, I always loved to watch great teams independent or not, such as Lotus, Benetton, McLaren and Minardi racing in F1

We are left with only Williams, Ferrari, Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Midland and Super Aguri as real F1 teams.

Although Lotus was a manufacturer too, they didnt had the same influence we see at Renault, BMW and Toyota.

Super Aguri are honda b team. I dont count them as independants

you can call SA a lot of things, but a "real F1 team" is not one of them

Which means that they will be fighting at the front of the grid, AHEAD of Button. So yes, they will not fight with Button

people are putting far to much faith in newey who has only designed the best car once in the past 6 years and that was last year

I dont think that Newey is so good.

Red Bull will always be a midfield team while Honda is running up front.

I think McLaren will become a DaimlerChrysler brand.
The team will still race as McLaren, but Ron will step down for Norberg Haug
