Got this today,

so i'm indulging myself a little :p

you might recognise a similar pic from one of my scale models in the F1 model section :)

This one is a particular bit of footage i had to capture, its the last corner before the start/finish straight at Monaco ( Virage Anthony Noghes ) which looking from the picture below has the car coming out of a left hander.

you'd be forgiven by thinking that Jones was coming round a right hander judging by the body language of the car :)

This image epitimises the Alan Jones style of driving for me :D

And heres one of Alan coming through a corner at Zandvoort, again checkout the body language of the car ;)

:)

Great shots there. Dont think you could drive a modern F1 car like that no more, thy glue to the track these days!

Those pics seem to be good quality, wonder if it was shot on film or video that footage.

I've got all the Duke dvds from 1970 to 1980 and while the quality of the video is good they all look a bit grainy, as if a post production effect was added.

Now that you mention the era, i'm inclined to think it was shot on film, film will have a high amount of grain when shown now cos of its age. Video wouldn't look that sharp, especially at that age where shooting on video was more of a last resort type thing.

I think that Duke used a combination of film and video for their compilations, i have races from that era shot on video that are pretty sharp. To me they used a grainy effect on remsastering to make the transition from video and film less obvious.

Where FW is sitting down it's Patrick Head.

Ah yeah. I s'pose it was 25 years ago. We all change. Even Frank looked, well, a bit younger.

for those of you who are interested in the older F1 cars, and have Motors TV, they have been showing highlights from the TGP (Thoroughbred Grand Prix) Championship over the past few days.

i saw the Brands Hatch and Silverstone races, with cars such as 2 x Williams FW07 's, Brabhams, Tyrrell's (01 i think it was called, and the P34 6-wheeler), Arrows, Lotus' (72D and the Senna JPS ones), Ferrari 312 T3 Gilles car, and many more that i can't remember right now, but it's awesome to see all these cars racing, as most of us won't have seen them when they originally raced.
