Button to Stay at BAR Next Season

By Anthony Rowlinson Monday, 19 September 2005 13:28

Jenson Button will drive for BAR-Honda next season after agreeing a £10 million multi-year deal that releases him from his commitments to Williams, Autosport can exclusively reveal.

Use of question mark due to source being as reliable as a Mercedes engine.

Seems like good news. At least both parties involved can put this behind them and get on with planning for the next season.

I don't think it's true. Frank Williams asked $50 million and BAR wanted to pay only $30 million. And Frank gave the contract to the Contract something Board which will investigate it.

Wait for the first tests with the new 2006 specs. If Williams turn out to be faster Jenson will change his mind again. What a twat.

He needs to learn to accept the consequences of his actions

Sod honour! That ain't gonna win him any races (just like the 2006 Williams). I'm well pleased about the news - if it is true. Jenson and Rubens will make an excellent pairing over the next few seasons, methinks.:)

I doubt Williams will be back to their winning ways for many years. No wonder Montoya and Ralf walked away when they did - clever chaps...

Let's face it, if we were in Jenson's shoes we would also be trying to get out of that contract, since we'd know that next year's Williams is likely to be uncompetitive.

So I don't blame him for trying, and I'm not prepared to take the moral high ground and say "He should honour his agreements" because in the same position, I'd realise I'd made a big mistake and would be attemppting to correct it.

However, on the question of who he SHOULD drive for, I'd have to say Williams because simply put, that's who he's contracted to next year.

exactly, and button is as honest as pie to say 'i want to drive for the best possible team i can at the particular time' being a choice of williams or bar - last year it was williams when he was choosing, now it seems its bar. cant blame him.

imagine if it was girls, have the fat chick who might end up pretty in a few years, or get with the hot girl now. hmmm

Well, back in 1994 nobody thought possible that Benetton could win the drivers championship with a Ford Cosworth V8 ...

and breaking a contract is also honest?

He is being a child and is refusing to accept the consequences of his actions. Being honest does not make up for being childish and spoilt. He will gain much more respect if he took responsibility for his actions rather than this rubbish
